Job description

The Project Engineer (PE) serves as the critical link between design and manufacturing, ensuring all the necessary actions, materials, and processes are correct and complete to support new or revised parts are ready for production. This role requires an overall understanding of production planning and manufacturing processes, materials and ERP. This includes establishing bill of materials, creating and/or approving accurate product and assembly drawings, determining product packaging, and confirming all production tooling is complete. Manages configuration control for materials, products, drawings, BOMs and packaging.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or related technical field.
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Project management experience with internal resources, customers, and vendors
  • Proven experience in transitioning products from R amp;D to high-volume production.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and advising on technical qualifications of RF and/or electronic part and products preferred.
  • Experience communicating with customers on technical field inquiries preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Coordinate with other departments on all drawings and documentation to verify accuracy and completion.
  • Manages Stage-Gate process deliverables from design validation to mass production.
  • Coordinate and manage pilot/sample production efforts to ensure all aspects of products are ready for high volume manufacturing
  • Develop timelines and drive stakeholders to ensure timely completion of pilot and sample builds
  • Using CAD software to transform approved designs into production-ready drawings, layouts, and specifications. Manage and maintain all dimensioning, revision control and technical documentation.
  • Participate in creating amp; maintaining FMEA
  • Support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Ensure a solid understanding of customer and/or product requirements and ensure they are implemented into the finished product.
  • Initiate, control, and manage engineering changes (ECO/ECR) that impact parts production readiness
  • Collaborate with Finance/Purchasing to establish production costs and pricing models
  • Provide leadership to resolve internal or external issues related to product as needed.
  • Analyze, understand, and manage program risks.
  • Provide support to vendors in support of production readiness as needed.
  • Provide quarterly updates on past performance to include KPI’s, goals, and actions to achieve goals
  • Manage any external qualification or certification requirements for the product
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting of project status to include key performance indicators (KPI’s) along with goals and action plans to support improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 2D and 3D CAD software experience – attention to detail for creating drawings, layouts, dimensioning, change control, etc., and checking drawings required for manufacturing.
  • Understanding of quality standards
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • ERP experience, specifically controlling master data
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Physical Requirements:
  • Standard office environment with visits to the warehouse and production floor.
  • Ability to navigate throughout the production area and facilities as needed, which may require standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely work on and around manufacturing equipment in a dynamic industrial setting.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
