Job description

We are seeking a Tax Associate with bookkeeping experience to join our team. This is a growth opportunity, your potential to rise within the organization is unlimited. As a Tax Associate, you will play a vital role in assisting our diverse book of clients in fulfilling their tax obligations accurately and efficiently. Your expertise in both tax preparation and bookkeeping will contribute to the overall success of our firm and ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare : Prepare individual and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations. Work toward advising clients on tax-saving strategies and opportunities for tax deductions.
2. Provide tax planning and advisory services: Collaborate with team to assist clients to develop effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize client benefits. Stay up to date on all tax regulations, legislation, and changes to provide accurate and relevant advice to clients.
3. Assist in resolving tax issues: Provide assistance in resolving complex tax issues and inquiries from clients, taxing authorities, and other relevant parties promptly and accurately. Research and analyze tax laws and regulations as required.  Ability to address IRS issues. 
4. Perform bookkeeping duties: Maintain accurate financial records and perform bookkeeping tasks such as recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable/receivable, and handling payroll processing.
5. Conduct financial analysis: Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide meaningful insights to clients regarding their business operations and financial performance. Create financial reports and recommend improvements to optimize tax efficiencies.
6. Develop, maintain, and grow client relationships: Interact closely with clients to understand their businesses, financial statements, and tax history. Provide exceptional client service while addressing their tax and accounting needs promptly and professionally.  
7. Collaborate with team members: Collaborate and communicate effectively with other team members, including partners, managers, and associates, to ensure efficient workflow, client satisfaction, and adherence to deadlines. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff as needed.
8. Keep updated with tax software and tools: Stay current on advancements in tax software and utilize relevant technology tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity in tax preparation and bookkeeping tasks.  Experience with Wolters Kluwer software.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA certification preferred, but not required.
- experience in tax preparation and bookkeeping preferred. Experience in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department a plus.
- Proficient in accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Experience with tax software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage with clients effectively.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in using financial software, MS Excel, and other relevant tools.
- Willingness to stay updated on tax regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
