  • Full Time - 1st Shift - Monday-Friday
  • Rotation in afterhours and weekend on-call

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Investigates, analyzes, and resolves hardware and associated software and communications problems on hospital computer systems. Performs complex hardware repairs and maintenance on a wide range of pc-based computers and peripherals.
  • Evaluates existing computer systems hardware and performs system upgrades based on customer needs.
  • Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.
  • Assumes the responsibilities for the design and implementation of systems to meet user needs.
  • Prepares detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining systems capabilities and processes.
  • Research and recommend hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Monitors the hardware and software systems using available systems utilities.
  • Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
  • Record and maintain hardware and software inventories, site and/or server licensing, and user access and security.
  • Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
  • Write and maintain system documentation.
  • Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network.
  • Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
  • Analytical and progressive critical thinking skills are a must.
  • Has working knowledge of computer networking concepts, including LAN/WAN architectures, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and network segmentation.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting network connectivity issues in multi-user environment.
  • Knowledge of server/desktop administration, and virtualization.
  • Knowledge of firewall technologies and VPNs.
  • Full range of body motion, including bending, squatting, standing/walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds.

Education/Certifications

  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Computer Technology.

Experience

  • 5-7 years’ experience on computer system comparable to current installed system.
