Job description

HawkEye 360 is currently seeking an Associate System Operator to join the System Operations team, which is a group dedicated to maximizing the performance and quality of the end-to-end HE360 system by optimizing data quality, refining on-orbit activities, and maintaining customer requests. We own and drive internal and customer requests to resolution while keeping an open channel of communication with the stakeholders during on-going projects. The team is looking to add someone who can assist in day-to-day satellite operations and scheduling.
This position requires participation in an on-call rotation with the Operator taking responsibility for responding to alerts and taking action in the case of an anomaly. Rotations cover Pacific (or Hawaiian) time zone, to include weekends and holidays, in exchange for days off and/or other incentives.

HawkEye 360 is looking for a candidate with exceptional problem-solving skills, who is a strong communicator and has a passion for working with and developing new innovative technology. The candidate will also act as the main point of contact for PST (or HST) based customers and quality concerns.
Location:HawkEye 360 is based in Herndon, VA; this position can be hybrid or remote.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Work under the guidance of experienced engineers to gain skills and knowledge in system operations, customer planning, and satellite operations
  • Assist mission planning and mission operations using existing command and control software, including anomaly detection and resolution
  • Assist with debugging existing command and control applications and ground station infrastructure when issues arise
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance of satellite operations and customer scheduling
  • Contribute to scheduling of customer orders and respond to ad hoc changes, additions, or deletions of collections
  • Proactively bring issues and problems to the attention of the team; generate, propose, and implement innovative solutions to solve them.
  • Work cross-functionally across the organization with product, engineering, and mission management teams to resolve satellite or customer-related issues

  • 1+ years professional work experience
  • High attention to detail and the ability to handle several issues simultaneously while staying organized
  • Experience in a customer service industry or working in a customer-facing role

  • Bachelor's or equivalent academic degree in engineering or physical science-related fields; or equivalent work experience

  • Experience with Linux, Python, Java

We offer a compensation package that includes a competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and benefits. We consider many factors when determining salary offers, such as candidate's work experience, education, training & skills, as well as market and business considerations. We are also open to considering candidates with experience and qualifications at a different level than required in a job posting, which may affect the compensation package offered.
