DESCRIPTION/JOB SUMMARY
Collaborating as part of a team responsible for designing, prototyping, testing, and assembling new mobility devices and improving existing products in accordance with the company's procedures and protocols
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
• Design and analyze complex mechanical systems including but not limited to high load structural systems, suspension systems, vehicle chassis, actuator driven linkages, and linear motion systems
• Develop, release and revise mechanical drawings and 3D models
• Ensure designs are safe, effective, manufacturable, reliable and Superior Product at Reduced Cost (SPARC) initiatives are met
• Perform component inspections as well as system verification and validation testing
• Meet and fulfill project timelines and budgets
• Serve as technical project lead with external design partners and suppliers
• Coach and teach advanced skills and techniques to less experienced team members within the department
• Assist in continuous improvement of design procedure and protocol to help drive design efficiency
• Assist management in championing change within Pride
• Travel to domestic and international contract manufacturers as needed for product launches
• Ensure all safety and security rules are strictly observed and any accidents, incidents or injuries are promptly reported to management
• Complete the Annual CTPAT Security Training
• Focus on continuous improvement, and consistently demonstrate good business judgment
• Work effectively with all Pride departments to exceed internal and external expectations
• Pride retains the discretion to modify duties and/or assign other duties as necessary
REQUIRED SKILLS

Must have the ability to:

• Advanced working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) or Product Data Management (PDM) systems
• Intermediate understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); OR certificate of completion in GD&T Training Course
• Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Basic working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and simulation
• Strong research capabilities
• Strong mechanical inclination
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Intermediate working knowledge of FEA and simulation preferred
• Basic understanding of Lean Principles preferred
• Lift/Push/Pull 40 lbs. preferred
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
• At least 7 years of experience in designing mechanical systems and assemblies
• At least 5 years of experience in 3D solid modeling of mechanical components and assemblies
• At least 5 years of experience in creating, reading, and comprehending 2D detail drawings
• At least 3 years of experience in the application of GD&T
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with machining, welding and fabrication of mechanical assemblies preferred
• At least 7 years of hands-on experience in the assembly of fabricated mechanical components and systems preferred
• At least 7 years of hands-on experience in an environment supporting design, manufacturing, technical service, and technical processes preferred
• At least 7 years of equivalent experience in 3D solid modeling of mechanical components and assemblies along with 2D detail drawings preferred
• At least 1 year of experience with the specific products preferred
REQUIRED EDUCATION
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 12 years of the required experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION
• Master's Degree in a related Engineering field preferred
