Job description

Location- PULLMAN, WASHINGTON (Open to relocation candidates)

As a Project Engineer/Specialist - Project Manager in Engineering Services, you'll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.

As a Project Engineer/Specialist - Project Manager a typical day might include the following:

  • Work with customers to understand their needs and respond with solutions through new proposal development when within SEL Engineering Services' competencies.
  • Manage technical team to complete work within agreed upon scope, schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed scoping, schedule, and budgeting documents using project management tools and processes.
  • Use project performance metrics to forecast actual project performance and forecasting to compare against baselines through a regular reporting regimen.
  • Identify, measure and improve project and procedural deficiencies.
  • Work with internal partners to complete project scope as needed.
  • Manage customer relationships throughout the project and act as the trusted adviser. Work with scheduling software to graphically represent the critical path to completion and use that data to advise your stakeholders.

  • Enjoy providing excellent customer service by providing the quoted scope of work, within budget, on schedule, and with the high level of SEL quality that our customers expect.
  • Understand the project scope of work to be able to identify deviations and manage a path forward to ensure the desired project result is achieved.
  • Understand how to monitor and control project performance metrics and how to compile that data into regular stakeholder reports.
  • Enjoy autonomy and working with the latitude necessary to drive results.

Required Qualifications:

  • One of the following:
    • Bachelors in Engineering Technology or relevant discipline
    • Associates Degree with minimum of 4 years relevant experience
    • PMP Certification or similar with 6 years relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of electric power system protection and control, integration and/or automation and communications applications
  • Must be able to sit in Pullman, Washington
  • Working knowledge of electric power system design, studies, information and communication technology and protective relay applications
  • Willing to travel both domestically and internationally 25% based on focus area
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)

Pay Range Data

$97,700- $144,400

We are open to reviewing additional candidates withmore or lessexperienceand the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our ranges aredeterminedby job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
