Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a creative and motivated Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about solving problems and improving the lives of people. SEL develops critical products that provide the main interface for protecting, controlling, monitoring, and analyzing the power grid. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer in Pullman, WA. If you are a current student looking for an opportunity to develop your mechanical engineering skills, learn from world class engineers, and enhance your academic learning, then this may be the position for you!

As a Mechanical Engineer Intern, a typical day might include the following:

  • Design, document, and 3D-print simple mechanical tools and fixtures.

  • Design simple, custom, table-top automation equipment.

  • Update SolidWorks models and drawings.

  • Data entry of technical information into company databases (MS Access, Lotus Notes, SolidWorks).

  • Follow mechanical development and quality assurance procedures.

This job might be for you if you:

  • Are currently in pursuit of BS or MS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with one to two years engineering education completed.

  • Possess strong problem-solving skills.

  • Have working knowledge of MS Office Applications or equivalent.

  • Have one year SolidWorks Experience (or equivalent CAD software).

  • Have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

  • Can learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

  • Can work cooperatively in a team environment.

  • Have background check results satisfactory to SEL.

  • Have negative drug test result(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience filing engineering documentation.

  • Finite element analysis experience a plus.

Pay Range Data
