Job description

Position Overview

Our Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) team is looking for an innovative and detail-oriented individual to join as an Associate Software Engineer focusing on Linux backend development.

We’re a team of professional software engineers dedicated to improving electric power safety, reliability, and economics through automation, control, and monitoring.

Responsibilities
  • Work from high‑level requirements and customer commitments to deliver innovative solutions and delight our customers.
  • Collaborate cooperatively with teammates.
  • Participate in reviewing specifications, designs, code, and tests in tight collaboration with other team members.
  • Understand hardware and software interactions; collaborate with firmware and power system engineers.
  • Participate in project planning and estimation.
  • Follow and apply SEL values and principles of operation: Understand. Create. Simplify.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of object‑oriented principles and concepts.
  • Knowledge and experience in object‑oriented languages such as "C++," "C#," etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in Linux.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
  • Negative drug test result(s).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of software development experience.
  • Familiarity with Git, CMake, and Docker.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.

Pay Range
