Position Summary:

The Production Manager role is responsible for the performance of their team and is key to driving the results for the organization. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient utilization of resources including team member(s), production equipment, support equipment and materials for an assigned team. The Production Manager will work with all other department's team members to ensure that Safety, Cost, Quality, Food Safety and Customer Service requirements are achieved in alignment with overall company objectives. The Production Manager will develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives within their area(s).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Achieves production goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs – Safety, Quality, Cost, Service) in the department of responsibility.
  • Oversees Team Leader's activities and assures they are performing all job duties efficiently.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of Manufacturing Orders (MO's) into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Assures FIFO is adhered to for all inventory consumed.
  • Provides input regarding area's production schedule, which is prepared and owned by the Scheduling and Inventory Manager, and is accountable for consistently achieving 92% or greater schedule attainment for their area(s)
  • Completes routine evaluations of all direct reports and ensures team members receive proper training, coaching, performance management and development for growth.
  • Champions and ensures a culture focused on safety, quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Identifies and implements cost reduction procedures related to material yields, labor efficiency and overall production.
  • Responsible for ensuring all quality checks are completed and all Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and Corrective Action Reports (CAR) have been responded to with appropriate follow up actions implemented.
  • Accountable for proper execution of new-product-development (NPD) initiatives for their area(s)
  • Ensures effective communication throughout their area(s) and serves as the point for communication to their area(s)
  • Responsible for process ownership of their area(s)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma with at least five (5) years of manufacturing or food industry-related work experience along with a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience. An Associate or Bachelor's degree along with a minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing industry work experience is preferred. Work experience in the food or meat industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong interpersonal skills required. Must be a team player with a focus on delivering results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Positive, action-oriented, adaptable, approachable and demonstrates perseverance.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate challenges and solve problems is required.
  • Continuous Improvement experience in manufacturing is highly desired. Certification in Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience with an ERP/MRP system is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP) is a plus.
