Job description

Overview
The Database Engineer Consultant serves as a senior technical leader responsible for defining, governing, and advancing enterprise database architecture, and engineering standards across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. This role provides technical leadership for database platforms, architecture reviews, cloud adoption initiatives, security compliance, disaster recovery strategies, automation, and emerging technology adoption by p resent ing technical alternatives and solutions to management that are reliable, adaptable, and cost-effective. It also p rovides consultative guidance to associates, management, and business units through expertise in multiple technologies.
Responsibilities
    • Define and maintain enterprise database architecture standards, roadmaps, and reference architectures.
    • Provide governance and oversight for cloud and on-premises database designs.
    • Lead Architecture Review Group activities and ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards.
    • Develop and maintain database architecture diagrams, standards, and procedures documentation.
    • Drive adoption of cloud database technologies across various environments.
    • Conduct research and development activities supporting database modernization and automation.
    • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for emerging platforms and technologies.
    • Design and maintain enterprise disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
    • Provide consultative direction and technical expertise across the Bank's database infrastructure landscape.
    • Advise business and technology partners on reliability, scalability, security, availability, and recovery solutions.
    • Support enterprise initiatives through architecture reviews and technology recommendations.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Database Technologies OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Database Technologies
  • Deep understanding of database administration, architecture, engineering, and operational support.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical environments requiring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Experience working within regulated environments with strong security and compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of Database Administration, Engineering, or Architecture experience.
  • Experience supporting Banking, Financial Services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Expertise with (preferably in this order) PostgreSQL , DB2 , Netezza , Oracle Database , SQL Server , MongoDB
  • Experience with various database and infrastructure management and monitoring tools
  • Experience leading technology modernization, cloud adoption, and enterprise transformation initiatives.
