Position Description

The TTUHSC School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics in the Permian Basin specializes in health care for children of all ages. Our faculty physicians are committed to delivering high quality health care to children, as well as excellence in medical education. Serving the communities of the Permian Basin for over 20 years with a diverse patient population.

The TTUHSC Permian Basin Pediatric Residency is a new program based in Midland, Texas beginning in 2028, designed to address critical pediatric care shortages by training residents in general pediatrics and subspecialties like critical care, behavioral developmental, neonatology, adolescent medicine and endocrinology. Supported by a community investment, the program focuses on comprehensive, high-quality care with a focus on rural health.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Examines patient, performs a comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination;
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care;
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance;
  • Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team; and
  • Participates in the education of students and residents.
Occasional Duties Required Qualifications
  • MD/DO/MBBS;
  • Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3;
  • Completed, or in the process of completing, an ACGME accredited Residency in Pediatrics; and
  • Completed, or in process of completing, a Fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
