Job Description Our client, a prominent legacy organization is seeking a Director of Finance to join their established team. Our ideal candidate is a CPA, CA with progressive experience in education, non-profit/charitable and complex organizations. Reporting to the leadership team, responsibilities will include: Role Overview & Leadership Strategic Advisory: Reports to the Head of School as a Senior Leadership Team (SLT) member; advise the Board of Governors on long-term financial sustainability and capital project financing.

Cross-Functional Support: Partners with the SLT and department heads, providing financial analysis, modeling, and tools to guide budgeting and decision-making. Departmental Oversight: Leads and manages teams across finance, facilities, operational accounting, legal, tax receipting, payroll, and benefits. Operations & Financial Management Controls & Compliance: Establish internal financial policies, controls, risk management (including annual insurance reviews), and ensures regulatory compliance with Alberta Education and CRA.

Reporting & Auditing: Manage monthly/quarterly financial statements, cash flow forecasting, annual budgeting, and leads the external year-end audit. Execution: Collaborate on supplier contract negotiations and reviews resource allocations to support organization wide equity and inclusion. Qualifications & Experience Credentials: University degree in accounting, business, or management, plus a professional accounting designation (CPA).

Experience: 7+ years of senior finance experience; background with independent schools or complex multi-stakeholder institutions and a Board of Governors is preferred. Technical Skills: Advanced Excel (modeling, analysis) and knowledge of Sage 50 and major ERP systems.
