The PMO Project Manager is a key team member managing high-value renewable energy projects across the United States. This role manages projects while establishing and enforcing PMO standards, methodologies, governance frameworks, and performance metrics. The Project Manager partners with senior leaders and functional teams to ensure project alignment with strategic objectives, priorities, and risk tolerance.
This role provides PMO duties across the full renewable asset lifecycle-from project initiation, planning execution, monitoring, and closing. Responsibilities include portfolio planning, resource prioritization, risk and dependency management, schedule and cost control, and executive reporting. The Project Manager ensures consistent project delivery practices, operational readiness, and asset optimization initiatives, supporting long-term reliability, regulatory compliance, and value realization across wind, solar, and energy storage assets.
Role Responsibilities:
  • Manages a project portfolio of high-value projects and programs, ensuring consistency in on-time delivery, budget adherence, risk mitigation, and achievement of operational and business objectives
  • Develops, defines, implements, and continuously improves project management frameworks, tools, and standard processes to enhance project execution
  • Establishes and communicates program goals, timelines, and performance expectations in alignment with corporate strategy
  • Provides program-level risk assessments and mitigation strategies to senior leadership
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency and process improvements
  • Supports negotiations with key vendors and contractors, ensuring commercial terms, performance expectations, and risk allocation aligning with organizational objectives
  • Partners with leadership to establish strategic priorities for the Operations PMO, translating project initiatives/goals into actionable plans
  • Drives the adoption of lessons learned, best practices, and standard methodologies across projects
  • Oversees vendor and contractor performance to ensure quality, safety, schedule compliance, and value delivery across the project lifecycle
  • Provides support and mentorship to associate project managers, fostering a high-performance, accountability-driven PMO culture
  • Serves as the primary escalation point for project-level risks and issues providing ready analysis and recommended mitigation strategies

Job Requirements and Experiences:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMPยฎ) or equivalent certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects
  • Wind, Solar and/or BESS operational experience preferred
  • Project Management experience required
  • Deep understanding of program governance, risk management, and cross-functional coordination
  • Applies advanced project and program management methodologies
  • Broad knowledge of renewable asset operations
  • Addresses complex program-level challenges, integrating financial, operational, and risk considerations
  • Anticipates problems and implements preventative measures
  • Manages interdependencies across programs
  • Provides reports pertaining to individual projects or programs as required
  • Engages cross-functionally with senior stakeholders to align on program goals
  • Influences decisions within operational teams and vendor organizations
  • Leads multiple programs, managing budgets, schedules, and quality standards
  • Updates business metrics as required
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites assigned
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Project (MS Project)
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
  • Strong project leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
  • Ability to multi-task while working independently and as part of a team
  • Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
  • Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
  • This position is a field-based remote based role, with a requirement to travel domestically and visit multiple RWE Americas site locations and/or offices at a minimum of 50% of the time. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
