Principal Associate, Risk and Compliance, Global Workplace Services

That's why our team is looking to add a Principal Risk and Compliance Associate.

As a Principal Risk and Compliance Associate in Central Services, you'll play a key role in ensuring that our broader GWS organization remains well-managed and in compliance with organizational, enterprise, and legal requirements.

The ideal candidate should:

  • Deliver clear, concise, and tailored communication to appropriate audiences across all levels.

  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships, proactively inform them, and apply relevant prior experience.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of enterprise risk, governance, regulatory, and change management frameworks

  • Contribute to solutions with confidence, achieve desired outcomes effectively, and demonstrate leadership among peers.

  • Consistently apply expertise, deeply understand day-to-day operations, and operate with little oversight and high success.

  • Manage work effectively, consider multiple perspectives, and lead through ambiguity to gain buy-in and declare next steps.

  • Hold self and others accountable to Capital One values and constructively challenge non-aligned decisions.

  • Be open to creative solutions, collaborate with others to solve problems, and ground issue severity on level of impact.

  • Manage work to deliver results per timelines, prioritize business-critical work, and manage high volume effectively.

  • Respect individual contributions, actively helps others succeed, and consistently volunteers for staffing and training support.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of real estate related physical security issues

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple departments to understand processes and drive results

  • Proactively manage risk management initiatives, tasks, and activities in order to reduce the residual risk within the business

  • Provide risk advice and guidance to business areas, as required

  • Execute deliverables that support internal governance processes

  • Act as issue manager on events and issues related to the business, including project management of remediation activities

  • Monitor for new applicable laws and implement processes / procedures to comply

  • Coordinate the delivery of materials requested in audits and exams, coordinating with various stakeholders across the lines of defense

  • Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on an as needed basis

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of risk management experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in organizational strategy, project management, or business analytics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience in Risk Management, Compliance, or Audit

  • At least 3 years of physical security or corporate real estate experience

  • At least 1 year of experience working in Governance Risk and Compliance applications

  • At least 4 years of experience in creating and maintaining information in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) or Google Suite (Slides, Sheets, and Docs)

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Project Management Professional (PMP)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist


New York, NY: $131,800 - $150,500 for Principal Risk Specialist







Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
