Job description

Who we are:
The Police Athletic League (or PAL) is New York City's largest independent youth development organization. We operate diverse programs from Head Start, Day Car and Universal Pre-K programs; to elementary and middle school after-school programs, summer day camps and summer Playstreets. We run evening teen centers and college readiness programs, as well as youth employment and juvenile justice programs. In its over a century of service, PAL is continuing its evolution and remains a vibrant and vital New York City institution.
Position Summary
The Recruiter will support the Human Resources team in recruiting staff for the organization's after-school and summer youth programs. Working closely with the HR Manager and full-time recruiter, this role assists with sourcing, screening, and coordinating candidates to help ensure programs are adequately staffed with qualified individuals.
Pay & Commitment:
  • $30 - $32 per hour
  • 25 hours a week
  • Available to work consistently through September 30th.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with recruiting efforts for after-school and summer program positions, including Group Leaders, Activity Specialists, and other center support staff.
  • Post and maintain job listings across recruitment platforms.
  • Review applications and conduct initial candidate screenings.
  • Schedule interviews and coordinate communication between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Support recruitment events, job fairs, and community outreach efforts.
  • Maintain accurate applicant tracking records and recruitment documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding coordination, including collecting required paperwork and tracking required clearances.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR and recruitment team as needed.

Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in recruitment, HR support, or administrative coordination preferred.
  • Experience working in youth programs, education, or nonprofit organizations is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with applicant tracking systems is a plus.
