Job description

Medical Associates Clinic is looking for a part-time Receptionist or a full-time CMA to join their fast-paced Bellevue Family Care Network team. Our skilled providers and support staff work together to provide comprehensive family medicine, educate patients, and offer convenient consultation and referral to specialists.

Schedule: Primary schedule is Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm working an average of 3 days per week at the Bellevue clinic for a Receptionist and/or CMA. Full-time hours for a CMA could be supplemented with 1-2 days per week in the clinic float pool. Flexibility is a must!
Location: Primarily located out of Bellevue, IA. Will provide support in other clinic locations primarily in Dubuque.


What you'll be doing as a Receptionist:

  • Demonstrate effective customer service skills by greeting customers in a polite, prompt, helpful manner, and provide any necessary instructions or directions. Check in patients for their appointments.  This includes reviewing, updating, and/or obtaining patient information making necessary account changes to ensure correct billing.
  • Set up new insurance coverage or modify existing insurance coverage records as needed. Collect copay or other payments where applicable and perform accurate end of day balancing.
  • Schedule appointments for patients within our clinics or as needed from work queues.  Apply applicable department/provider scheduling protocols relating to appointment types and lengths while directing patients to appropriate providers/specialties.
  • Provide verbal and/or written instructions to patients, peers, and clinical team members, interacting tactfully with customers and establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
  • Complete all other assigned projects and duties.

 What you'll be doing as a CMA:

  • Collect pertinent patient health care data, diagnostic testing, treatments, and review medical records and confer with physician/mid-level providers to ensure patient needs are met. May include general office duties such as obtaining and updating patient demographic and insurance information, accepting payment and co pays, scheduling and coordinating multiple appointment and creating lab orders.
  • Collaborate with health care team according to plan of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, and others. Promote patient wellness and provide patient education.
  • Document care provided, including but not limited to: interventions, medication, patient education, and assist with integrity of medical record.
  • Facilitate reimbursement of services provided, including but not limited to: charge tickets, referrals, and insurance requirements.
  • Maintain an office environment that is safe, neat, organized, and supplied with necessary equipment, instruments, supplies, and educational materials. Ensure equipment is functioning safely and properly. Perform cleaning and maintenance of equipment according to guidelines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in performing other additional duties of patient care. Provide input for devising systems to improve quality and efficiency of patient care and workflow. Participate in required meetings.
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures.
  • Complete all other assigned projects and duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience - From three months to one year of similar or related experience. Phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
Education - High school diploma or GED required OR an equivalent to a two-year college degree OR completion of a specialized course of study with certification at a business or trade school.  
Interpersonal Skills - A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other Skills - Keyboarding skills and use of electronic equipment. Use and operate a wide variety of diagnostic and medical equipment. Use personal protection safety equipment including gloves, lab coats, gowns, goggles, and face masks/shields. BLS required biannually.
