Hilo Benioff Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Clinic Receptionist to support our Imaging Unit. In this vital role, you will serve as a key point of contact for patients, ensuring a seamless scheduling and registration experience while supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services. Your work directly contributes to patient care by helping coordinate timely and accurate imaging services across our community hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments for a variety of imaging procedures, ensuring all required documentation, authorizations, and instructions are complete
  • Interview patients to collect and verify demographic and insurance information, and accurately register patients for services
  • Prepare, review, and maintain patient records, ensuring all forms, orders, and authorizations are complete and compliant
  • Collect payments, issue receipts, and assist patients with financial options such as payment plans or charity care
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patients, answering calls, addressing concerns, and offering clear pre-procedure instructions
  • Support overall office operations, including maintaining files, ordering supplies, coordinating communication, and assisting with patient flow
Required Qualifications: To qualify, you must meet all the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • General Experience: Two (2) years of responsible clerical or administrative experience demonstrating knowledge of office procedures, customer service, and basic computer skills
  • Specialized Experience (II level): In addition to the General Experience, six (6) months of work experience performing clerical duties including patient registration, scheduling, data entry and medical records handling in a healthcare or clinic setting
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and commitment to excellent customer service
  • Typing: Preferred ability to type at a net speed of 40 words per minute with accuracy
Substitution of Education for Experience: An Associate's or Bachelor's from an accredited college or university may substitute for all the General Experience required.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements
