Position description
Project Scientist Series positions are occasionally available throughout the year in the Division of Clinical Sciences in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Riverside. The Division is conducting an open search for Specialists in various disciplines. Positions are filled as they become available based on the funds and priorities of different laboratories or research centers.
Initial appointment for the Project Scientist Series is for one year, and renewal is based on availability of support. Successful candidates must also have clear potential or demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student body. Salary commensurate with experience. The posted UC salary scales UCOP compensation index set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment.
Advancement through the ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
Project Scientist Series
Project Scientists make significant and creative contributions to a research project. Responsibilities for the Project Scientist may include performing studies and experiments, analyzing and preparing presentations and reports summarizing data, and scholarly contributions. Candidates in this series enable research as part of a team and may provide some independent input into the planning and execution of research. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a strong record of specialized training and experience in grant writing.
Assistant, Associate, and Full rank Project Scientist candidates must possess a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent degree) and have experience in the field. Project Scientists need not demonstrate the same independence or scholarly breadth as members of the Professional Research series.

  • Possess a broad range of knowledge and technical competency, extensive works experience (e.g. postdoctoral training), and a strong publication record in the field.

    • Demonstrated significant, original, and creative contributions to a research or creative program or project.
    • Professional competence and activity.
