This position reports to:
Design and Verification Team Lead
In this role, you will coordinate and perform laboratory activities to ensure compliance with design verification requirements, test specifications, and recognized industry standards. The role supports design and verification efforts while maintaining the integrity, safety, and readiness of the test environment, including facilities, equipment, and personnel. The Test Technician applies sound judgment and established engineering principles to execute test engineering activities, drive continuous improvement, and enhance internal efficiency and customer satisfaction.
The work model for the role is: Onsite
This role is contributing to the Motion Drive Products Division in the US.
You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Support design and verification engineers with development activities, including component evaluation, prototype assembly, and product verification testing.
  • Execute product and prototype testing in accordance with approved test specifications, standards, and procedures; analyze results to confirm compliance with performance requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain accurate and complete test reports, data records, and documentation. Set up, operate, and collect data using standard laboratory instrumentation such as digital multimeters (DMMs), ammeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, and thermometers.
  • Perform safety and EMC certification testing in accordance with UL, CSA, and IEC standards and generate formal reports for submission to third-party certification agencies.

Qualifications for the role
  • Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience; or five (5) years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Solid understanding of standard engineering theories, concepts, principles, and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of variable frequency drive (VFD) design and operation.
  • Proficiency in operating laboratory test equipment to obtain accurate measurements and interpret results effectively.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) for reporting and documentation.

Preferred Experience
  • Hands-on experience performing UL, CSA, and IEC compliance testing, particularly for drive (VFD) products.
  • Familiarity with ABB products.
