About the Role

As a Process Technician at Rocket EMS, you will be responsible for supporting and improving manufacturing processes to ensure high-quality, efficient, and repeatable PCB assembly production. You'll work closely with engineers, operators, and quality teams to monitor processes, resolve issues on the production floor, and drive continuous improvements. This role requires strong technical knowledge of electronics manufacturing, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with SMT and through-hole processes.


Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret process documentation (MPIs, ECOs, deviations, customer specifications) prior to production.

  • Set up, monitor, and adjust SMT, through-hole, and supporting processes to ensure compliance with IPC standards and customer requirements.

  • Perform first article verification and validate new builds before releasing to production.

  • Troubleshoot process-related issues, including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow, wave solder, and selective solder.

  • Support engineers in process development, validation, and NPI activities.

  • Collect and analyze process data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with ESD, MSD, safety, and housekeeping standards across all work areas.

  • Train and mentor operators on correct process execution and best practices.

  • Document process changes, generate pass-downs, and escalate unresolved issues to engineering or quality management.

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on yield, throughput, and cost reduction.


Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in electronics/manufacturing preferred.

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or process support within a contract manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with SMT, through-hole, reflow, and soldering processes.

  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification preferred.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of PCB assembly processes and IPC workmanship standards (Class 2 and 3).

  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, and technical instructions.

  • Proficient in data collection and basic statistical analysis.

  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills with soldering, inspection, and assembly equipment.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work across production, quality, and engineering.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to quickly identify process deviations.

Pay Range
