Job description

LINKAN’S FOCUS

Linkan is a custom solutions provider for complex water problems. We specialize in water treatment projects related to the mining industry and beyond.

WHY LINKAN?

At Linkan, we are an employee-owned (ESOP) company, which means every person has a real stake in our success. We think and act like owners because we are owners—sharing in the responsibility, pride, and long-term value we build together.

When you join Linkan, you join a team of owners committed to meaningful work and long-term success.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Water Treatment Engineering Intern at Linkan, you will support active design–build water treatment projects across the mining and industrial sectors. This internship offers hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers through the full project lifecycle — from concept and design to construction, commissioning, and operations. You’ll contribute to real-world engineering solutions that solve complex water quality challenges, improve sustainability, and support critical industrial and mining operations, while building valuable professional connections in water treatment and environmental engineering.

Essential duties include:

  • Support the engineering team in the design, evaluation, and optimization of water treatment systems for mining and industrial clients, including technologies focused on reuse, treatment efficiency, and operational reliability.
  • Participate in site visits, field surveys, sampling, commissioning support, and system observations; assist with laboratory analyses to evaluate water quality and treatment performance.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data related to water treatment processes, including chemical dosing, flow rates, and contaminant removal performance.
  • Support environmental compliance efforts by assisting with monitoring, technical documentation, and reporting tied to permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with engineers, operators, and project teams throughout the design–build lifecycle, contributing to practical solutions for complex water challenges.
  • Assist with research into emerging water treatment technologies and best practices to improve performance, sustainability, and water reuse across mining and industrial operations.

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Specific skills and experience are as follows:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of water treatment and environmental engineering principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive desire to learn.
  • Familiarity with engineering or data tools such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, or similar software is a plus.
  • Prior internship, coursework, or research experience related to water treatment, mining, or industrial processes preferred.
  • Interest in design–build project delivery, environmental compliance, and sustainable water management.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to remote project locations as required.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, national origin, disability or status as a protected veteran.

WHAT WE WILL PROVIDE TO YOU

  •  Hands-on experience in innovative water treatment solutions within the mining industry.
  • Collaboration with a team of experienced professionals committed to sustainable water management.
  • Contribution to meaningful projects that impact environmental sustainability in mining.
  • Networking opportunities within the mining and industrial sectors.
