Job description

Supply Chain Planner

Position Summary

Famous Supply is seeking a Supply Chain Planner to manage supplier relationships, inventory investments, and supply planning activities that support service level and inventory objectives. This role is responsible for purchasing products, developing inventory strategies, monitoring demand trends, and ensuring the right products are available at the right time and location to meet customer needs.

The Supply Chain Planner partners closely with suppliers, branch operations, sales, inventory management, and distribution teams to optimize inventory performance, improve service levels, and maximize return on inventory investment.

Primary Responsibilities

Supply Planning & Inventory Management

· Develop and maintain inventory replenishment strategies that support targeted service levels and inventory investment goals.

· Analyze demand patterns, seasonality, market trends, and customer behavior to improve inventory availability.

· Review forecasting exceptions and adjust planning parameters as needed.

· Manage safety stock settings, lead-time variability, order cycles, and inventory policies.

· Monitor inventory health and take proactive action to reduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.

· Collaborate with branch operations and sales teams to align inventory strategies with business needs.

· Support supply chain planning tools, forecasting systems, and inventory optimization platforms.

Purchasing & Supplier Management

· Review requisitions and release purchase orders in a timely manner to meet customer requirements.

· Evaluate supplier performance and drive improvements in delivery, lead times, fill rates, and responsiveness.

· Expedite deliveries and maintain accurate delivery information for purchase orders.

· Establish and maintain purchasing master data including pricing, lead times, order quantities, sourcing information, and product attributes.

· Support supplier onboarding, product transitions, and product phase-outs.

Analytics & Continuous Improvement

· Measure and monitor key performance indicators, including:

o Service Level

o Inventory Turns

o Backorders

o Forecast Accuracy

o Supplier On-Time Delivery

o Inventory Investment

· Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, inventory performance, and supplier execution.

· Utilize planning systems to support data-driven decision making.

· Develop reporting and analysis to support inventory and procurement strategies.

Recommended Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.

· 3+ years of purchasing, inventory planning, supply planning, or procurement experience.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Advanced Excel skills including data analysis and reporting.

· Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

· HVAC or Plumbing Distribution industry experience

· Experience with Epicor Eclipse ERP

· Experience with GAINS (Supply Chain Planning Platform)

· Experience with inventory optimization and forecasting

· Knowledge of supply planning, demand forecasting, and inventory management principles.

· Understanding of supplier performance measurement and inventory planning metrics.

· Knowledge of international freight and import compliance.
