Position Summary:
Join the forefront of innovation at the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), where cutting-edge research meets real-world impact. Our Advanced Manufacturing division seeks a talented **CAD Designer/Drafter** to join our growing team. This position is eligible for full benefits. Apply today!
This position will support the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering organization in CAD design/drafting capacity. Specifically, this position will help product engineers with creating models and 2D drawings of their designs using most recent ASME and GD&T standards. This will include collaboration with project stakeholders and understanding design intent and manufacturability constraints to effectively produce drawings for manufacturing and customer delivery. As well, this role will be supporting sister organizations in drafting and drawing review/release capacity to ensure organizational drafting standards are maintained and quality products are released. This includes understanding and following drafting standards of the organization and taking part in process improvement efforts. Finally, this role will support the generation of manufacturing routers withing the ERP system as needed. This position will be working in a highly agile and collaborative environment and therefore, great interpersonal skills, efficiency, agility, and attention to detail are key to success.
Candidates must provide examples of professional drawings they have generated with their resume.
Minimum Qualifications:
R1 Level
1. Associate's degree in a technical field with 3+ years of direct experience as a CAD designer/drafter
OR High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years of experience
2. Experience in 2D drafting and 3D modeling using SolidWorks
3. 5+ years of experience creating 2D drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5
4. Proficient in understanding, applying, and interpreting GD&T
5. Attention to detail
6. Experience reviewing drawings for accuracy and release to manufacturing shop floor
7. Effective interpersonal communication skills
8. Successful collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team
9. Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision
10. Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen
R2 Level
1. Associate's degree in a technical field with 6+ years of direct experience as a CAD designer/drafter
OR High School Diploma/GED and 10+ years of experience
2. Experience in 2D drafting and 3D modeling using SolidWorks
3. 5+ years of experience creating 2D drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5

Preferred Qualifications:
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
1. 10+ years of experience in 2D drafting and 3D modeling using SolidWorks
2. CSWP certification
3. Experience using SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) system
4. Experience working within an ERP system, Global Shop preferred
5. Experience creating Model Based Definition (MBD) models
6. Working knowledge of US Air Force drafting policies and requirements
7. Experience working with engineering and technical teams and projects
8. Experience working at an ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 organization
