Job description

The Food Safety Manager will execute all company food safety related strategies, policies and procedures; maintain open communication with all related departments to address the identification of food safety hazards and process improvement opportunities. The Food Safety Manager will also be responsible for managing the warehouse sanitation department, including pest control. • Coordinate the development, implementation/training and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and Food Safety plans (HACCP, FSMA) • Ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulatory requirements (Federal, State/Provincial and Local • Assist in training on SOP’s, HACCP plans and other food safety plans • Track program training for all associates and supervisors with direct Food Safety program responsibilities • Review all Critical Control Point (CCP) monitoring and verification records to ensure compliance with HACCP critical limits and frequencies, as required by the HACCP plan • Establish and maintain official regulatory and compliance records in appropriate files and binders to ensure data and materials are organized in a useful manner • Continuously analyze the current food safety programs for improvement opportunities • Conduct food safety observations of key associates performing food safety activities • Identify training opportunities for staff and recommend improvements for employee development • Act as change agent seeking and driving ways to improve productivity and positively impact the bottom line • Serve as problem solving liaison between Management, Operations, Transportation, Inventory Control and HR • Keep informed of food safety laws and regulations • Responsible for all Food Safety audits (Silliker, USDA, etc.) • Ensure the Sanitation Department is in compliance with all SOP’s, HACCP plans and other food safety guidelines. • Communicate with Safety Manager regarding any disparities in protocol. • Follow up to ensure proper adjustments have been made and disciplinary action has been administered as needed.

• Requires a high-level of integrity and accountability, specifically the ability to speak and act with complete honesty and trustworthiness. • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to adjust quickly to new circumstances • Ability to be open-minded, transparent and have exceptional listening skills • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, assignments and tasks, monitoring use of time and appropriately using equipment, facilities and materials and to provide timely and quality responses • Requires making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the organization • Opportunity to make decisions without supervision • Requires work with business partners or the public • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedures, as well as effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of associates, managers, customers, and suppliers. • Requires making decisions that impact the results of co-workers, business partners or the company • Five or more years related experience recommended • Food industry experience preferred • Ability to use PC and Microsoft Office applications, and learn new applications • Certifications in Food Safety, HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) • Valid driver’s license is required if driving to perform company business • High School Diploma or equivalent required
