Job description

Position Title: Server Administrator

Location: Fort Knox

Clearance Type: SECRET

Compensation: $30.55/hr.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide enterprise systems management support including fault analysis, performance tuning, configuration and patch management, and security monitoring for NIPR/SIPR networks.
  • Administer Active Directory, System Center, Group Policy, Remote Access, SharePoint, and Clustering Services.
  • Manage and maintain file storage systems, including user home directories and organizational shares using VSAN technologies.
  • Administer file, print, and application servers; apply OS, application, and security patches as needed.
  • Utilize virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, vSphere, vCenter) to deploy, manage, and maintain highly available virtual infrastructure.
  • Install and support Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) systems for NIPR/SIPR; provide touch labor and remote troubleshooting support for zero client devices.
  • Monitor and review system logs, security logs, and application logs to identify and resolve system issues.
  • Use PowerShell and other scripting tools to design, package, and deploy software and security updates.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Networks (SANs), and virtual appliances.
  • Support system backups, recovery processes, and profile redirection in VDI environments.
  • Ensure enterprise systems are maintained in accordance with DoD STIGs, RMF, and cybersecurity policies.
  • Respond to priority system management tasks within two hours and complete within one business day; address routine actions within one day and resolve within four business days.
  • Assist in the documentation and update of SOPs, procedures, and system configurations as required.

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in IT-related field preferred.
  • IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CySA+, etc.).

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in server/system administration within a DoD or enterprise IT environment.
  • Proficiency in managing Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, GPO, DNS/DHCP, and print services.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of patch management, RMF, and DoD STIGs compliance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting U.S. Army or NEC environments.
  • Familiarity with AESMP/ITSM or other enterprise ticketing systems.
  • Experience with enterprise backup tools, file server failover clustering, and collaboration services.
  • Ability to manage both routine server admin tasks (e.g., disk replacements) and complex infrastructure changes (e.g., re-networking).
