The Opportunity:
CACI is searching for a Linux System Administrator to support the FEMA Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (OCISO) in Washington, D.C. As a Linux System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and operational resilience of FEMA's Linux-based infrastructure. You will work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with cybersecurity professionals, system owners, and enterprise administrators to implement and maintain secure server configurations across on-premises and hybrid environments. Your efforts will directly contribute to safeguarding FEMA's mission-critical systems and data. The Linux System Administrator will be responsible for securing Linux-based infrastructure supporting system reliability, hardening, patching, logging, and assessment readiness across on-premises and hybrid environments. This position requires leveraging DISA STIGs or CIS Benchmarks to reduce attack surfaces and implement security controls and configurations. The Linux System Administrator will configure firewalls, access controls, and harden system services while performing regular patching, software upgrades, and hotfixes on Linux servers. This role ensures high availability and uptime through proactive monitoring of system performance, health, and capacity.
Responsibilities:
The Linux System Administrator will secure Linux-based infrastructure for the FEMA enterprise and leverage DISA STIGs or CIS Benchmarks to reduce attack surfaces while implementing security controls and configurations across Linux systems. This position requires configuring firewalls, access controls, and hardening system services, as well as performing regular patching, software upgrades, and hotfixes on Linux servers. The Linux System Administrator will remediate vulnerabilities and ensure system integrity while planning and testing patches to avoid operational disruptions. Responsibilities include ensuring high availability and uptime for mission-critical systems, proactively monitoring system performance, health, and capacity, and supporting business continuity requirements. The position involves implementing redundancy measures and preventing system failures, managing user identities, authentication, and authorization, and supporting ICAM tools, LDAP, and privileged access management. The Linux System Administrator will implement principle of least privilege and maintain system logging for auditing and compliance. This position requires supporting vulnerability remediation and conducting security assessments while researching and maintaining proficiency in tools, techniques, countermeasures, and trends in computer and network vulnerabilities, data hiding, and network and device security and encryption.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- FEMA EOD suitability or Current DHS or FEMA EOD preferred
- MA + 7 years of applicable experience in Linux system administration
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Linux system administration
- Demonstrated expertise in Linux infrastructure, DISA STIGs, and CIS Benchmarks
- Experience with security hardening and vulnerability remediation
- Knowledge of firewalls, access controls, and system service hardening
- Experience with LDAP, PAM, and identity management solutions
- Strong understanding of Linux security logging and monitoring.
Desired:
- Previous DHS or DoD experience
- Experience with shell scripting (bash, python) and automation
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure)

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$103,800 - $218,100
