KBC is seeking a System Administrator I. The ideal candidate will supports the overall operations of the server and virtual environments by monitoring resources and implementing changes or repairs as necessary. Works collaboratively with and helps the System Administrator team and other members of the IT department in fulfilling objectives and maintaining service levels. Reports to the Vice President of Information Technology (VPIT.


Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Works collaboratively with and helps the System Administrator team and other members of the IT department in fulfilling objectives and maintaining service levels.
  • Establishes system specifications by:
    • Analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements.
    • Designing and maintaining systems administration, including interface configuration.
  • Establishes and maintains server and virtual systems by:
    • Evaluating system performance issues including availability, utilization and throughput.
    • Planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment.
  • Supports the administration of system security and user access; maintains email applications.
  • Assists with the monitoring of overall health of the environment including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file security and accessibility; reports concerns to VPIT and senior team members.
  • Performs and monitors data backups for integrity, completion and disaster recovery operations.
  • Aids in troubleshooting efforts for problems with physical and virtual systems, and for basic network connectivity.
  • Provides user support and fulfills help desk functions as needed, assisting employees with IT issues.
  • Assists with the development and provision of reports upon request.
  • Works closely with the Senior Systems Administrator III and other members of the team on daily tasks to ensure peak performance of all systems.
  • Upholds department operational and security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Recommends and supports the implementation of approved solutions within areas of expertise.
  • Maintains the Computer Inventory for the IT department and informs the VPIT of any issues and needs.
  • Assists the Senior System Administrator III with daily tasks and initiatives as needed.
  • Fulfills other responsibilities and participates in special projects as assigned.

Working Environment & Physical Effort This position requires the ability to:

  • Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Carry out basic clerical duties (typing/writing) for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally bend or reach to perform various job tasks.
  • Safely ascend/descend a ladder.
  • Analyze complex situations and make sound decisions.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Occasionally travel to carry out essential job functions.

Qualifications:


  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or other similar major preferred; appropriate combination of education and related IT work experience with high school diploma (or equivalent) required. Related industry certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience with general, working knowledge of the administration of systems, applications, and servers.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, Adobe, web applications, and custom systems (as user and administrator).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to organize and manage workload, and to work a flexible schedule, to include on-call rotation for IT coverage after hours and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record with the ability to travel periodically to all KBC locations.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.
