Overview
The Opportunity:
General Dynamics Electric Boat, the world's foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an IT Business Analysist to join the organization within the Information Technology (EBIT) Department. The current business needs and demands are ever rapidly changing and require an agile, flexible, analytical candidate to join EBIT.
Position Summary:
In the IT Business Analysist position, you will be expected to ask questions, communicate openly, and get out of your seat and comfort zone. While this is NOT a Software Development role, the successful candidate will possess the technical aptitude required to work closely with Software Developers
The responsibilities of the IT Business Analysist will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Analyze and learn business software and processes.
  • Understand and translate business needs into system requirements.
  • Investigate data to understand and document issues/enhancements.
  • Work with various software development teams to drive implementation of innovative software solutions.
  • Drive cross functional teams and challenge the status quo.
  • Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets.
  • Utilize verification and validation techniques to ensure software deliverables are high quality and meet customer needs.
  • Provide IT SME support toward highly visible or critical production issues.

This IT Business Analysist position will be focused on supporting the Atlassian Products that EBIT has rolled out as other COTS, and custom applications.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • 5+ years of software technical experience (e.g. DevOps Engineer; Application Support Engineer)

Preferred:
  • Experience in requirements gathering and documentation
  • Experience with Jira configurations
  • Experience with Confluence configurations
  • Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving
  • Experience with business/systems analysis.
  • Experience in working on large team projects
  • Knowledge of verification and validation techniques.
  • Experience with Agile development concepts
  • Software development life cycle
  • Experience in writing SQL queries to interrogate intricate details of large datasets
  • Experience in creating and reviewing documentation, including operating procedures, training documents, and troubleshooting guides, for shop floor personnel or quality assurance inspectors
