We are seeking an Associate Investigator to join our Greenhouse Zone Lead team in Johnston, IA. This entry level role will support plant and experiment care in our 4 acre, muti-environment facility. The successful candidate will focus on daily hands-on execution of plant care tasks in coordination with cross-functional stakeholders and generate high quality results for early-stage research across a range of agricultural crops.
What You'll Do:
Greenhouse Zone Care and Support
  • Manage digital and analog watering technologies to deliver optimal plant health.
  • Monitor plant nutrition levels appropriate for each crop.
  • Document pest or disease challenges for mitigation.

Individual Management
  • Maintain greenhouse room and growth chamber cleanliness.
  • Report mechanical issues and non-conformities for remediation.
  • Coordinate with Tactical Liaison to ensure readiness for custom assays.

Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinate experiment execution with Tactical Liaisons, Sampling, Plant Movement, Harvest, IPM, and Sanitation groups.
  • Schedule with Zone Lead team to provide 7 days a week coverage for greenhouse needs.
  • Provide Zone Lead coverage to zones with absent team members, with occasional weekend and holiday coverage.

Safety and Health
  • Conform to all company and facility safety rules and regulations.
  • Complete all assigned safety training programs.

What Skills You Need:
Required Skills
  • B.S. or B.A. in a biological or related field.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative setting.
  • Communication skills in a variety of formats.
  • Desire to learn new software and associated hardware.

Preferred Skills
  • Greenhouse or agricultural research experience.
  • Desire to conduct research into protocol improvement.
