The Associate Demand Planner owns foundational planning responsibilities for assigned categories, building expertise in forecasting, inventory management, and lifecycle execution under the guidance of senior planners. This role drives performance through data analysis and execution, while developing the skills to independently manage increasingly complex categories.
In This Role
  • Develop and maintain item- and category-level forecasts using historical performance, seasonality, and trend analysis to identify gaps and recommend forecast improvements
  • Manage a category portfolio contributing up to 5% of annual revenue with guidance and oversight from senior planners
  • Monitor and drive key performance indicator (KPI) success across forecast accuracy, inventory turns, aged inventory, excess inventory, and product availability; execute actions to improve results
  • Maintain and execute Open-to-Buy (OTB) plans for assigned categories and proactively identify and communicate inventory risks
  • Support the execution of promotional and markdown strategies
  • Support product lifecycle planning, including end-of-life (EOL) strategies and new product introduction (NPI) forecasting; execute markdowns and exit strategies as needed
  • Manage purchase order requests, acknowledgements, and pipeline tracking while monitoring receipt flow and communicating ETA changes to Sales and cross-functional partners
  • Participate in cross-functional planning discussions and initiatives, representing planning priorities and insights for assigned categories
  • Maintain reporting accuracy and data integrity; identify and escalate risks, discrepancies, or system issues to senior planners as needed
  • Other duties as assigned, in accordance with training and qualifications

The Ideal Person
  • 2+ years of retail planning, buying or equivalent analytical experience (furniture industry experience preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Supply Chain Management, Merchandising required
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel with aptitude to learn new systems quickly
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of assigned work projects
