ROLE OVERVIEW

As our Associate Technical Designer, you are the architect of the perfect fit. Specializing in Swim and Intimates, you will translate design concepts into wearable, high-quality garments that balance comfort, support, and style. You'll own the technical development process from initial prototype to final production, ensuring our "close-to-body" categories meet rigorous standards for fit, construction, and performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the Fit: Lead live fittings to evaluate support, comfort, and silhouette. You'll provide precise fit comments and visual corrections to vendors, focusing on the unique challenges of stretch fabrics.

  • Technical Engineering: Establish and re-evaluate annual blocks. You will make direct fit corrections using CAD and flat pattern-making, ensuring consistency across all size ranges.

  • Precision Tech Packs: Build and maintain detailed Tech Packs, specifically managing complex BOMs (trims, elastics, linings), construction templates, and stretch-based grade rules.

  • Sample Lifecycle: Inspect all samples-from Proto to TOP-ensuring construction integrity, proper stitch tension, and adherence to quality standards.

  • Collaboration: Partner with Design and Development to select appropriate fabrications and trims that meet both aesthetic and cost goals.

  • Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of the curve on new bonding technologies, seam constructions, and consumer trends within the swim and lingerie markets.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: 3-5 years in Technical Design, with a specialized focus on Swim, Intimates, or high-stretch performance wear.

  • Pattern Expertise: Proven ability to make pattern adjustments for Junior and Plus sizing, with a deep understanding of body contouring and support.

  • Technical Savvy: Proficiency in CAD software, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft/Google Suites.

  • Material Knowledge: A strong understanding of elastics, specialized machinery (flatlock, overlock), and how different knit fabrications impact fit and recovery.

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate technical issues clearly to both domestic and overseas partners.

  • Bonus Points: Experience using PLM software.
