Collaboration is highly cross-functional and fast-paced, with frequent brainstorming sessions, joint decision-making, and direct communication with early employees to align on goals and adapt to rapid changes. You'll likely be involved in both high-level planning and hands-on execution, making flexibility and strong interpersonal skills crucial for success in this role.

What is an Associate Founder?

An Associate Founder is a key early team member who plays a significant role in starting and building a company, but is not necessarily the original creator or primary founder. They often join at the inception or shortly after and contribute essential skills, resources, or expertise to help launch and grow the business. Associate Founders may receive equity in the company and are typically recognized for their foundational impact, though they may not hold the same title or responsibilities as a primary founder.

Job description

Founders Associate
Location: New York City
Work Model: In person
Compensation: $175K-$350K+ base plus meaningful equity

About the company

Our partner is building on-chain access to the world's most liquid markets for people who do not have reliable access to transparent, trustworthy brokers. The platform enables users to trade major markets permissionlessly with self-custody, using blockchain rails to make access more transparent and auditable. The company has raised roughly $27M to date, has generated $30M+ in revenue, and is operating with a team of about 35 people

About the role

Our partner is hiring a Founders Associate to work directly with the CTO. This is not a generic assistant role. It is a high-trust, high-responsibility position for someone who can operate alongside a deeply technical leader, help drive execution across a fast-scaling engineering org, and earn credibility with an already strong team of developers, quants, and operators. The founder described it as someone helping the CTO lead a ~25-person dev team and stepping into work that requires real judgment, technical fluency, and intensity.

What you'll do

  • Work directly with the CTO as a force multiplier across technical and operational priorities
  • Help prepare for standups and keep execution moving across a globally distributed engineering team
  • Drive high-priority projects across product, engineering, and company-building initiatives
  • Act as an organizational backbone for a fast-moving technical team
  • Help coordinate across internal stakeholders and external touchpoints as the company scales
  • Travel as needed for team collaboration, conferences, and strategic priorities
  • Operate with a founder-level ownership mindset in an environment with very little hand-holding
What they're looking for
  • Strong technical foundation; this is a must-have
  • Degree background in math, computer science, physics, neuroscience, engineering, or similarly rigorous technical fields
  • Someone who can earn the respect of highly technical teammates, including people from top trading, crypto, and engineering backgrounds
  • Strong organizational ability and project management instincts
  • Interest in finance, markets, startups, or technical company-building
  • Comfortable with intensity, early starts, and a fast-moving environment
  • Founder-like profile: someone who could plausibly start their own company, but wants to build alongside an exceptional CTO
