What is an Associate Founder?

An Associate Founder is a key early team member who plays a significant role in starting and building a company, but is not necessarily the original creator or primary founder. They often join at the inception or shortly after and contribute essential skills, resources, or expertise to help launch and grow the business. Associate Founders may receive equity in the company and are typically recognized for their foundational impact, though they may not hold the same title or responsibilities as a primary founder.

Job description

I run two businesses out of Orange County:

  • A mature service company with real revenue and real clients
  • An early-stage AI startup weeks away from launch

I need one sharp person working directly with me across both. Not a coordinator. Not a virtual assistant. A right-hand associate who can shift gears without losing speed.

Some weeks are creative. Some weeks are operational. Every week something needs to move.

If you have supported a founder, business owner, or operator directly โ€” not in a corporate setting โ€” that background is exactly what we are looking for.

What You'll Actually Do

This role lives in two lanes and you need to be comfortable in both.

Outreach & Marketing โ€” AI Startup

We are weeks from launch and need a real outreach and marketing program built from scratch.

  • Draft and post 2โ€“3 LinkedIn posts per week (founder voice, not corporate)
  • Execute outbound email and follow-up sequences for demo pipeline
  • Track conversations, referrals, and warm leads โ€” nothing slips
  • Build Canva content for ads and social
  • Test messaging, compare what lands, iterate fast

This is not managing a marketing calendar. This is building the engine.

Execution & Follow-Through โ€” Service Business (Revol AV)

The service business runs. It needs someone making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Follow up on outstanding invoices โ€” professionally, persistently, without drama
  • Ensure invoices go out within 24 hours of job completion
  • Keep Trello organized and flag anything that has gone quiet
  • Track change orders so nothing gets missed
  • Deliver a clean weekly summary without being asked

The AR piece is not complicated. You are not a collections agent. You are making sure people who owe money know we noticed and we are following up. Comfortable, professional, and consistent.

Who This Is For

You have 1โ€“4 years of experience or are an exceptionally organized early-career communicator. You have done some combination of marketing, outreach, sales support, or client-facing work. You are not precious about what the task is โ€” you care that it gets done.

You are the right person if:

  • You can write a LinkedIn post in the founder's voice and send a polite invoice follow-up in the same afternoon
  • You pick up the phone when email is not working
  • You do not need a 14-step approval process to post something
  • You are calm when things are ambiguous and decisive when they are not
  • You know your way around Canva, Google Sheets, and Trello โ€” or you figure it out fast

You are not the right person if:

  • You want to specialize in one lane only
  • You are waiting to be told exactly what to do
  • Phone follow-up makes you uncomfortable

Why This Role Is Worth Your Time

You will work directly with a founder building a real AI product while running a real operating business. You will see how decisions get made, how outreach programs get built, and what it looks like to launch something.

If AI company scales, and we are building it to, this role scales with it.

Preference for candidates within driving distance of Orange County (LA, OC, IE) for occasional in-person collaboration.

Compensation

Part-time | 15โ€“20 hours per week $25โ€“$30/hour based on experience Performance bonus available after 90 days
