About the Role:

This Equity Research Associate will focus on investment manager research and due diligence for domestic, international, and emerging markets equity strategies. The daily workflow involves meeting with investment managers, generating research notes and formal reports, tracking and analyzing performance and exposures, and other ad hoc projects. The role requires leading and completing various projects under strict deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Attend meetings with investment managers and prepare post-meeting reports for dissemination to colleagues across the organization and to clients
  • Create and update investment manager reports used for reviews and recommendations to clients
  • Assist with underwriting new investment ideas by analyzing firm background, investment strategy, historical performance, portfolio positioning, and fund terms
  • Utilize investment tools including eVestment, Bloomberg, and MSCI ESG to conduct manager analysis and comparisons
  • Create asset class reviews summarizing major trends, including macroeconomic backdrop, performance drivers, competitive landscape, and key client considerations

What You Can Expect:

Monticello Associates offers a dynamic work environment for all employees. Equity Research Associates gain broad exposure to the investment management industry and have the opportunity to interact with leading investors across the major asset classes. Equity Research Associates will receive mentorship from the Research department Senior Equity Research Associates and Directors, as well as the firm’s Investment Consultants. The role may require periodic travel to visit with managers on-site, attend industry conferences, and collaborate with colleagues in other offices.

About You:

  • Undergraduate degree (academic concentration in economics, finance, or business is preferred)
  • 1-3 years of experience within the financial services industry through internships or full-time positions with a preference for experience at a foundation, endowment, family office, investment bank, asset/equity manager, or investment consultant
  • Excellent written communication skills (a writing sample is required for consideration)
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to multitask and organize competing priorities and deadlines
  • Analytical problem-solving and data analysis skills with high attention to detail
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire for constant learning
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint      
  • Knowledge of capital markets and securities analysis; specific asset class experience is a plus
  • Experience with investment technology (Bloomberg,eVestment,etc) is a plus

Starting base salary range: $80,000 - $100,000.  Salary is determined by factors such as experience, licenses/certifications, industry knowledge, and geographic location.
