We have an opportunity for a client-focused engineer - who has the experience and desire to join our municipal engineering team.
The Municipal Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relations and attending client meetings (which can include handling and responding to public input). These roles are ideal for engineers with an entrepreneurial spirit and that have the aspiration to utilize diverse approaches to various situations
Because our employees are usually involved in several projects at one time, involving numerous team members (such as project manager, junior engineers, and CADD technician/designer), exceptional communications skills and the ability to work well with others is essential.
Working with our clients and engineering teams, the municipal engineer could be responsible for any or possibly all of the following:
  • Working with elected or appointed municipal officials and personnel to determine and meet the municipality's needs
  • Attend public meetings of elected or appointed officials as municipal engineer representative
  • Conduct or supervise plan reviews for submitted Subdivisions and Land Developments
  • Work with staff personnel to confirm that subdivisions/land developments are constructed consistent with municipal approvals
  • Manage and/or design infrastructure projects, such as roadways, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, culvert replacements, water distribution, park and recreation facilities
  • Manage and review bid specifications and provide construction management for municipal infrastructure projects
  • Prepare cost estimates or review cost estimates prepared by staff
  • Prepare project proposals, contracts, and reports
  • Client and project management
  • Recruiting/hiring/mentoring junior engineers

Requirements
  • Civil Engineers with at least seven years' experience (PA PE license strongly preferred) in the design and management of municipal projects (with land development experience a plus).
  • Experience in building and maintaining client relations and involvement in business development.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D (preferred).
  • Ability to attend evening meetings.
  • Valid driver's license - for travel to client sites/meetings.
  • Ability to obtain PA Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances.
