Requisition Summary
Kenworth's Electrical Engineering Department is seeking two Associate Electrical Design Engineers. Please note that there are multiple vacancies on different teams and review the following job descriptions below:
New Product Development:

Kenworth’s Electrical Engineering department is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting new product development.  This individual will support sustaining design projects, new development programs, and researching proposals for potential new product designs across multiple PACCAR Divisions. The ideal candidate will be able to successfully apply engineering skills and techniques to deliver quality, innovative designs that support the manufacture of heavy-duty trucks that support PACCAR’s reputation as an industry leader.   

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • As part of a new product development team, design and release wiring harnesses, routings, and installations to support program needs across multiple PACCAR divisions. 
  • Facilitate program definition activities with PACCAR teams to deliver cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage engineering and project management processes to maintain schedule budget, and functionality.
  • Plan and track validation activities.
  • Ensure that industry-leading quality and reliability is met/maintained/exceeded. 
  • Provide interface documentation to wiring design, system architect, and mechanical design groups.
  • Contribute to the development of procedures and practices that ensure quality and reliable electronic systems.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team to ensure designs maintain industry-leading quality and reliability. 
  • Coordinate design and validation activities with suppliers and PACCAR Technical Center.
  • Proactively forecast and take steps to mitigate risks. Prepare work estimates for time, resources & budget.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

Core Electrical:

Kenworth Truck Company Core Electrical Department is seeking an Electrical Engineer focused on design of electrical and electronic components and systems. 

Job Functions/Responsibilites:

  • Design and release of electrical and electronic components and systems for heavy commercial trucks.
  • Manage engineering and project management processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality.
  • Plan and track validation of components.
  • Support product launch at vehicle assembly plants. 
  • Ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met/maintained/exceeded on all components. 
  • Provide interface documentation to wiring design, system architect(s), and mechanical design group.
  • Contribute to the development of procedures and practices that ensure quality, reliable electronic systems. 
  • As part of a new product development team, perform the design and development of assigned elements of: wiring harnesses, routings and guides system level schematics or other embedded electronic control modules

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree required.
  • 0-1+ years of design experience is required.
  • Design and application of automotive wiring harnesses, control modules, and other electronic devices.
  • Creation of engineering documentation including part drawings, schematics, diagrams, and routings. 
  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally, ready to learn and make use of new engineering processes, techniques, and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team to achieve timely objectives.
  • Demonstrated initiative to develop and implement solutions to complex problems.
  • Proficiency in standard business software tools (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Awareness of industry standards and regulations (SAE, ISO, FMVSS, etc.).
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) disciplines and tools preferred.
  • Experience using Creo and/or Siemens Capital is preferred.
