Job Description:
CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with one or more years of experience in Consulting Engineering. This candidate must have a strong and innovative technical background in Electrical Engineering. This position will work with a team of engineers and other consultants/design team members to design the electrical aspects of energy efficient buildings for various clients as well as complex infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is a leader and is self-motivated individual who thrives on helping our team and clients be successful.

The position is responsible for designing electrical systems, power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, emergency power, UPS, renewable energy systems, fire alarm system, low-voltage systems/coordination (IT, safety, security, access control), etc. all for the purpose of bidding and construction for various projects. ย This position will work with a team of engineers to design energy efficient buildings for various clients of CMTA. Our ideal candidate is typically a self-motivated individual who thrives on helping clients and has a strong technical background. We anticipate they will be involved in all phases of the project.

Job Requirements:
Technical
โ€ข ย  ย Degree: Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
โ€ข ย  ย EIT preferred
โ€ข ย  ย 1-3 yearsโ€™ experience preferredย 
โ€ข ย  ย Demonstrated ability to lead electrical design projects
โ€ข ย  ย Demonstrate project management skills, preferred.
โ€ข ย  ย Experience using NEC, AutoCAD, ETAP/SKM, and Revit requiredย

Pre-Design Engineeringย 
โ€ข ย  ย Perform field surveys for the design of electrical systems, gather information, and prepare site assessment reports.
โ€ข ย  ย Prepare electrical schematic designs.

Design Engineeringย 
โ€ข ย  ย Design power single line and riser diagramsย 
โ€ข ย  ย Perform electrical calculations (arc flash, coordination, short circuit, voltage drop, load flow) using ETAP/SKM.
โ€ข Design low-voltage and medium-voltage infrastructure.ย 
โ€ข ย  ย Design for electrical equipment (substation, switchboard, transformer, panelboard) replacement projects.
โ€ข ย  ย Understand and utilize CAD/BIM standards.
โ€ข ย  ย Have a working knowledge of National Electrical Code, Washington Codes and Energy Standards to design electrical systems.
โ€ข ย  ย Coordination among different disciplines, such as mechanical, plumbing, telecom, civil, structural, and architectural. Work in close contact with the entire design team.

Project Management
