ELECTRICAL DESIGNER

Peterson Associates Consulting Engineers, Inc. is a consulting engineering firm specializing in the design of mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems for various building types, including multi-family, commercial buildings, retail, hospitality, medical and religious facilities. We are currently seeking a full time electrical designer projects in AutoCAD/REVIT for compliance with city, state, and national building codes, compliance with owner standards, and industry construction standards. (NEC, NFPA, IECC, IBC, LEED, etc.)
Qualifications:
 
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or REVIT.
  • Must have Commercial lighting, power and electrical distribution system design/drafting experience.
  • Effective communication and problem solving skills.
  • Effective knowledge of State, Local and National building codes. (NEC, IECC)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience preparing commercial construction documents using AutoCAD and/or REVIT. 
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience preparing electrical load calculations as well as energy code reports (IECC/ComCheck)
  • Capability to size electrical service entrance sections, feeders, transformers etc.
  • Capability to perform short circuit and fault calculations.
  • Capability to design lighting control systems to meet relevant codes. 
  • Capable of time management and continued organization.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a team or individually.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
 
  • Review and/or establish Electrical  project scope, budget, necessary constraints and design approach with Project Manager and/or client
  • Design and review electrical lighting and power systems for various projects using AutoCAD and/or REVIT.
  • Perform short circuit, fault and load calculations for various projects.
  • Create plans and schematics, make equipment selections as well as develop system narratives and specifications.
  • Conduct field surveys and site evaluations.
  • Confer with other consultants, clients, and contractors to resolve issues and provide technical information/solutions.
  • Discuss and provide feedback on equipment selections with manufacturers’ representatives and project managers. 
  • Review applicable design standard requirements, codes and regulations as they relate and impact design development.
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner required to meet deadlines.
  • Review product submittals for conformance with design documents and specifications.
