Our organization provides services designed to help members of our community achieve their individual goals. MPNN BH has over 60 distinct programs to aid and support all ages and many situations.
Job Summary
The Developmental Educator provides Part C Early Intervention services to infants and toddlers (birth through age three) and their families through the Rural Infant Services Program (RISP). This position delivers high-quality, family-centered developmental intervention in children's natural environments using evidence-based practices and a caregiver coaching model to promote child development and family capacity. The Developmental Educator collaborates with families and members of the transdisciplinary Early Intervention team to assess developmental needs, implement Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) outcomes, and support children's participation in everyday routines and activities. This position requires strong collaboration, effective communication, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to family-centered practices consistent with Virginia Part C Early Intervention requirements. The Developmental Educator is supervised by the RISP Program Coordinator and works closely with the Clinical Lead, Service Coordinators, and both in-house and contracted members of the transdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, high-quality services and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and agency requirements.
Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct developmental screenings and assessments using approved Early Intervention tools.
  • Provide routines-based physical therapy services and caregiver coaching in natural environments.
  • Address developmental domains including cognition, social-emotional development, adaptive/self-help skills, play, and early learning.
  • Participate in the development and ongoing review of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  • Initiate services within the required 30-day Part C timeline and maintain timely communication with families.
  • Complete documentation and billing in the electronic health record (EHR) within established early intervention timelines.
  • Collaborate with Service Coordinators, families, and other providers to ensure coordinated care.
  • Maintain an active caseload (approximately 25-30 children, depending on availability).
  • Attend virtual or in-person team meetings as needed.

Essential
• Must pass all required Background Checks.
• Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License with reliable transportation and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier.
• Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority.
Education and Experience
  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required; an Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Psychology, Human Development, Social Work, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Eligibility for/or completion of DBHDS Early Intervention Certification.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet documentation deadlines.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
