Position Information

Position Overview

We are seeking an entry level Associate Developer.  In this role, you will work alongside experienced software engineers and technical specialists and will be given the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment. 

You will design, develop, and maintain the software products offered by HealthStream in accordance with technology best practices and product offerings. Work with team leaders and senior developers to understand and refine requirements. Help design and estimate effort of new features or sub-systems from business concept to detailed technical design. Develop quality, defect free software that adheres to company coding and documentation standards. 

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.

Operational/Troubleshooting:

  • Perform basic troubleshooting using a code debugger.
  • Identify problem areas in code, server configuration, or the database.
  • Understand the basics of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and code deployment patterns.

Development Skills:

  • Utilize Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) for software development.
  • Leverage understanding of Source Control system concepts in daily tasks.

Database Management:

  • Develop a working knowledge of relational databases, assisting in their maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.

Communication:

  • Clearly communicate with team members in both verbal and written form.

Behavioral:

  • Work individually and as part of a team, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Self-learn through courseware and peer/senior staff mentoring.
  • Exhibit proper time management, professional conduct, and adhere to corporate policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • No prior professional software development experience required; entry-level role.
  • Basic knowledge of Integrated Development Environments and source control system concepts.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills, including use of a code debugger and ability to identify whether issues stem from code, server configuration, or database layers.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD and code deployment patterns.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases.
  • Familiarity with the C# programming language and .NET development (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of writing unit tests.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud concepts (preferred).
  • Ability to effectively leverage AI tooling on a regular basis to enhance quality and personal throughput.
  • Eagerness to learn through self-directed courseware and mentoring from peers and senior staff.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to adhere to corporate policies.

Compensation

  • The salary range for this position is $70,352 - $82,000. Salary will be determined on the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications. Compensation will be commensurate with skills, relevant experience, and performance in similar roles.
