About the role

The Associate Systems Engineer supports laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and data collection activities for current and prototype laboratory instrumentation within the Engineering (AI) group. This entry-level role focuses on hands-on execution of test procedures, basic data entry and analysis, and documentation under the guidance of senior engineers. The position provides exposure to regulated product development, prototype evaluation, and reliability improvement activities while building foundational engineering skills.

What youll do

  • Execute hands-on laboratory testing on current production systems and prototype systems under guidance, including setup, instrumentation, and operation.
  • Follow established test protocols to perform verification, performance, thermal, fluidic, and reliability tests.
  • Collect, log, and organize test data accurately and consistently.
  • Perform basic data entry, plotting, and summary analysis using standard tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab) with support from senior engineers.
  • Assist with troubleshooting test setups, test failures, or system anomalies and clearly communicate observations.
  • Support preparation of test documentation, including data tables, figures, and draft test summaries.
  • Maintain organized test records and documentation in accordance with regulated product development requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians in a team-based laboratory environment.

What we are looking for in you

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • Interest in hands-on laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and experimental work.
  • Familiarity with basic data analysis and documentation using tools such as Excel or similar.
  • Comfort working with mechanical assemblies, laboratory instruments, and test fixtures.
  • Ability to follow defined procedures and document results accurately.
  • Exposure to regulated product development or medical device environments is a plus but not required.

Physical Requirements for this role include:

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods in a laboratory or office setting.
  • Manual dexterity to handle laboratory instruments, small components, or computer equipment.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to wear PPE (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, masks etc.) as required
  • Work Environment: Exposure to chemicals/biological materials and medical devices in a laboratory setting under controlled safety protocols

Work Location: Hybrid work schedule on-site in Norwood, MA with minimum 4 days/week on-site, 1 day/week WFH.

Targeted Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000/year
