Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Developer Support Engineer based in Netherlands.

As a Developer Support Engineer, you'll provide advanced technical support for complex backend, integration, database, and configuration issues across cloud and self-hosted environments.
You'll investigate challenging technical problems using logs, SQL queries, APIs, scripts, and system diagnostics.
The role combines hands-on troubleshooting with close collaboration across Support, Engineering, and Product teams.
You'll help customers resolve high-impact issues while identifying defects, developing workarounds, and improving technical documentation.
You'll work with distributed applications, REST APIs, Linux environments, networking, and Kubernetes in a technically sophisticated setting.
The position offers significant autonomy, with opportunities to influence product quality and strengthen internal technical knowledge.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced support engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and making systems work reliably at scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Provide advanced technical support for backend services, integrations, databases, configurations, and application behavior across cloud and self-hosted environments.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide escalation support for complex or high-impact incidents.
  • Troubleshoot installations, upgrades, migrations, performance issues, and environment-specific problems.
  • Analyze application logs, support bundles, database queries, API traffic, and system metrics to identify root causes.
  • Use development and environment inspection tools to debug application behavior across multiple technical layers.
  • Identify, reproduce, and document software defects and collaborate with Engineering on resolution and workarounds.
  • Develop scripts and technical solutions to address complex customer issues and automate repetitive troubleshooting tasks.
  • Support integrations involving REST APIs and third-party systems, helping diagnose data flow and connectivity issues.
  • Work closely with Technical Support Engineering, Engineering, and Product teams to resolve escalated cases within defined scope.
  • Contribute to internal documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvements to support processes and product quality.
Requirements:
  • 3-6 years of experience supporting Java-based web applications or comparable enterprise software environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities spanning application code, logs, databases, APIs, infrastructure, and system dependencies.
  • Hands-on experience writing SQL queries and working with databases such as MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong Linux command-line skills, particularly for log analysis, system configuration, and environment troubleshooting.
  • Experience troubleshooting networking concerns involving firewalls, proxies, connectivity, and related infrastructure.
  • Practical experience working with REST APIs and SaaS or web-based applications.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and an understanding of distributed application architectures.
  • Strong scripting abilities and the ability to use automation to investigate problems and improve technical workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with general guidance, manage technical workstreams, and take ownership of issues through resolution.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Experience with ArangoDB or other NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Candidates must have unrestricted authorization to work in their country of residence and be located in an eligible country within the EMEA region.
Benefits:
  • Remote-first and culturally diverse working environment spanning multiple countries.
  • Flexible virtual work model designed to support collaboration across distributed teams.
  • Opportunity to make visible, company-shaping contributions in a technically sophisticated environment.
  • Strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional development.
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning for ongoing skills development.
  • Opportunity to work on software supporting complex engineering and product development organizations.
  • Inclusive workplace with equal-opportunity employment practices and reasonable accommodations available throughout the hiring process.
