Structural Design Technician (Wood/Steel/Truss)

Hourly Range: $24.00 - $33.00 / hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday, day shift

Express Employment Professionals is partnering with an established leader in the building products industry to recruit multiple Design Technicians. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with an engineering, drafting, or construction-related background who are looking to develop their technical skills and build a long-term career within a collaborative environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Revit experience (2024–2026 required)
  • Wood, steel, or truss industry experience
  • Strong trigonometry and mathematical calculation skills
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Architecture, or Construction Technology
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction documents

Candidates who do not possess Revit experience, wood/steel/truss experience, and trigonometry skills will not be considered.

Position Overview:

The Design Technician is responsible for developing accurate material lists, producing shop drawings, and generating structural calculations for assigned projects. Working with Revit modeling software and specialized design systems, this role supports the successful manufacturing and installation of structural building components used in commercial and residential construction.

Successful candidates will enjoy solving problems, working with technical information, and collaborating with engineering and design teams to deliver complete and accurate project solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop accurate material lists to support manufacturing and project execution.
  • Produce detailed shop drawings and layouts utilizing Revit software.
  • Generate structural calculations and verify design requirements.
  • Interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Coordinate with engineering and technical teams to resolve design challenges.
  • Ensure designs meet quality, accuracy, and constructability standards.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with Revit, AutoCAD, CAD drafting, engineering, manufacturing, or construction.
  • Knowledge of structural systems and building components.
  • Experience working with technical drawings or construction documents.
