Software Developer II
We are seeking a motivated Software Developer II to join our team. The Software developer will support all engineering activities required to design, develop, implement, and maintain complex software systems across enterprise and mission environments. The ideal candidate will support both enhancement ("refinement-type") and maintenance-focused development efforts while contributing to the design and delivery of scalable, high-performance applications. In addition, the candidate will work independently and collaboratively within a small, high-performing team to deliver solutions aligned with Government-driven requirements.

  • Translate high-level Government requirements into technical designs and fully functional software solutions.
  • Design and implement both Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) and custom-developed software applications.
  • Develop and maintain large, complex software systems and web-based query/reporting applications.
  • Contribute to system-level design and architecture to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Test, debug, and refine applications to ensure functionality, efficiency, and stability.
  • Enhance existing software to improve performance and reduce operating time.
  • Provide full software lifecycle support, including design, development, testing, deployment, and user interaction.
  • Prepare and maintain program-level and user-level documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams in an Agile environment to support development efforts and deliver mission solutions.

If you're suitable for this role, you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or related field with five (5) years of professional experience; or ten (10) years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong experience developing in C#

  • Experience with ASP.NET and .NET Core
  • Experience with SQL and database-driven applications
  • Experience working with XML, HTML, and JavaScript
  • Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
  • Experience designing and implementing microservices architectures
  • Experience contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment
  • Experience working in Agile environments and contributing to project estimation and planning
  • Ability to design and develop software solutions based on high-level or ambiguous requirements
  • Knowledge of Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to independently drive tasks to completion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with container-based solutions
  • Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Experience developing applications integrated with Active Directory
  • Experience setting up version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and build environments
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting in production environments
