Position Information
Job Title PT CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR-ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING (Pool) Position Status Part Time Classification Title Part-Time Clinical Instructor-Up to 19 hpw Work Location Main Campus - 3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX Job Summary
The part-time associate degree nursing faculty member will teach in external clinical settings and/or in the nursing skills lab. Classroom teaching may be assigned depending on nursing experience and credentials.
Required Qualifications
  • Current unencumbered license to practice professional nursing (RN) in the State of Texasย 
  • Three years varied work experience as a registered nurseย 
  • Evidence of current nursing skillsย 
  • Evidence of maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise and safety in the areas of teaching responsibilityย 
  • Evidence of teaching to students, staff in clinical agencies, or to patients/families
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in nursingย 
  • Experience teaching clinical nursing courses or precepting nursing students in a clinical agencyย 
  • Experience teaching in a simulated laboratory settingย 
  • Experience teaching in a classroom environment
Essential Functions
  • Work in cooperation with the Department Chair and program faculty to ensure course and program goals are achievedย 
  • In team-taught courses, consult with the course instructor prior to beginning the semester to obtain and clarify course assignmentsย 
  • In clinical, select appropriate patient assignments for the students utilizing course and clinical objectivesย 
  • Apply sound principles of teaching, learning, and evaluationย 
  • Collaborate with the faculty in the evaluation of student achievement of learning outcomesย 
  • Work cooperatively with clinical agency staff to provide quality learning experiencesย 
  • As assigned, work with students in the simulation laboratory using high fidelity manikinsย 
  • Teach and evaluate nursing skillsย 
  • Assist with setting up the skills lab and keeping the lab orderlyย 
  • Exhibit professionalism and dependability in areas such as attendance, preparedness, and timely performing of dutiesย 
  • Provide appropriate documentation pertaining to instructional role as required by Department Chair and course instructorย 
  • Attend faculty meetings as requestedย 
  • Demonstrate insight and assume responsibility for own professional growthย 
  • Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift or move equipment needed in teaching nursing and directing students in the laboratory and clinical areasย 
  • Able to ambulate to supervise students in the clinical areaย 
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of timeย 
  • Use of manual dexterityย 
  • Some travel to clinical sites is required
