Accounting Associate (Bookkeeper) | Indianapolis, IN
Location: Indianapolis, IN (Northside)
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week onsite (option for 1 day remote after onboarding)
About the Opportunity
LHH is partnering with a well-established, locally respected public accounting firm in Indianapolis to add an experienced Accounting Associate / Bookkeeper to their team.
This is a key role within the firm, supporting both tax and audit functions while managing your own client portfolio. The team is tight-knit, collaborative, and known for maintaining strong, long-term client relationships. If you take pride in your work, value consistency, and enjoy owning your responsibilities, this is a strong opportunity.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll manage a portfolio of 4-10 client accounts, handling full-cycle bookkeeping responsibilities, including:
  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Journal entries and general ledger maintenance
  • Payroll processing and quarterly/year-end payroll reporting
  • Sales tax filings
  • Month-end close
  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Supporting tax and audit teams with client accounting needs
  • Direct client interaction and relationship management
What We're Looking For
  • 5-7+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience (public accounting experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) and/or Sage 50
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines at once
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism with clients
  • Solid Excel skills
  • Team-oriented, accountable, and dependable
Associate degree preferred, not required
