Overview

Madison Magazine is seeking a creative, detail-oriented designer to join our award-winning team. This position is primarily responsible for designing high-quality print and digital advertising, advertorials and special advertising sections while supporting the production of the print issue. The designer collaborates closely with the advertising, editorial, marketing and production teams to develop compelling visual solutions that meet client objectives, maintain Madison Magazine's design standards and ensure all materials are produced accurately and on deadline.

In addition to advertising design, this role assists with editorial layout and production, creates digital and promotional assets, and provides design support for marketing initiatives, events and special projects. The ideal candidate is an organized, collaborative designer who thrives in a fast-paced magazine environment, can manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and has a strong eye for typography, layout and visual storytelling.

What You'll Do

  • Design advertising and client marketing materials for print and digital products
  • Work with the creative director to support editorial layout and production
  • Develop creative concepts and visual assets promoting Madison Magazine's brand and special projects
  • Support all-hands-on deck projects at the magazine, including events, Best of Madison and other promotions

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications or a related field.
  • Two to five years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in magazine production, news media or advertising
  • Portfolio demonstrating skill in typography, layout, branding and advertising design
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat Pro

Skills

  • Experience designing both print and digital advertising campaigns
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining standards and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client, vendor and internal stakeholder communications
  • Confidence working independently and collaboratively while contributing to a dynamic team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of print production workflows and commercial printing processes
  • Experience coordinating photo shoots and collaborating with photographers
  • Basic motion graphics or animation experience for social media and digital marketing
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms and social media best practices
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and web publishing
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)
