Job Overview
The Systems Engineer III is a senior technical contributor responsible for the engineering, architecture, implementation, and support for the day-to-day operation, security, and continuous improvement of SCS Global Services infrastructure environment. Reporting to the Sr Manager, IT Operations & Security, this role owns strategic technical decisions for infrastructure systems, leads complex projects and initiatives, provides technical mentorship to junior engineers, and manages the day-to-day relationship with managed infrastructure service providers to ensure the availability, security, and performance of SCS Global Services systems and applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex infrastructure systems and Azure cloud environments that meet the operational and security requirements of the organization
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for future-state computer systems, network infrastructure, and cloud environments
  • Lead review and resolution of complex technical challenges and escalated support issues related to core infrastructure, requiring in-depth evaluation of alternatives, enhancements, and systemic improvements
  • Own the architecture and strategic direction of Active Directory, Entra ID, M365, and associated policies and controls
  • Administer and maintain Egnyte content platform infrastructure, including storage architecture, permission models, and integration with enterprise identity and security tooling
  • Design and implement proactive monitoring strategies and lead remediation efforts to maintain availability, security, and performance requirements
  • Develop, own, and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation related to infrastructure systems engineering best practices
  • Monitor infrastructure security posture, respond to reported incidents, and provide recommendations for improving infrastructure resilience
  • Lead risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and audits related to infrastructure systems to identify and mitigate potential risks
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Systems Engineer I/II staff
  • Lead vendor and tool evaluations for infrastructure tooling, providing build-vs-buy recommendations
  • Drive automation initiatives using to reduce manual effort and increase operational efficiency
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators and metrics to measure and validate infrastructure performance and future capacity requirements
  • Advise on emerging technologies, particularly within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, to ensure infrastructure capacity meets future business needs
  • Contribute to infrastructure budget and capacity planning
  • Collaborate with technical peers across IT to resolve systems issues and achieve organizational goals
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience and
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Azure infrastructure, M365, networking, and server and storage administration
  • Ability to analyze complex, ambiguous infrastructure problems, identify root causes, and design effective long-term solutions
  • Expert-level proficiency in Azure-native infrastructure, server/workstation operating systems, and infrastructure tooling
  • Deep knowledge of systems engineering principles: architecture, design, testing, integration, optimization, troubleshooting, and monitoring
  • Broad expertise across servers, storage, networking, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, identity management, and application infrastructure
  • Proficient in scripting and automation
  • Strong organization, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior staff
  • Initiative, sound judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
  • Experience administering enterprise content management/file sharing platforms (e.g., Egnyte) including permissions, folder structures, and data governance controls
