Job description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a great Triad company. The Controller will oversee all accounting functions, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, manage the month-end close process, maintain internal controls, and provide financial insights to support business decisions. This role will supervise accounting staff and partner closely with executive leadership to drive operational and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury management and banking relationships.
  • Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic business decisions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members (4 direct reports).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support ERP system optimization, implementations, and reporting enhancements as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing month-end close, financial statement preparation, and audits.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop accounting teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Construction experience highly preferred
This is an immediate need so applicants should be available immediately. Hybrid flexibility available once trained.
Pay Details: $80.00 to $120.00 per hour
