Job description

As an Integration & Automation Engineer, a typical day might include the following:

  • Maintain advanced technical knowledge and skills to contribute to the development and enhancement of integration and automation features in SEL products.
  • Define, develop and analyze product specifications, functional tests, and system validation processes.
  • Diagnose customer reported problems with integration and communication features and document issues for developers.
  • Provide technical and market analysis to evaluate proposed products or enhancements.
  • Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians.
  • Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operation and World Class Manufacturing principles.
  • Understand. Create. Simplify.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This job might be for you if:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience with serial, Ethernet, and multiple communication protocols and their application in an electrical power system environment
  • Typically 2+ years of experience in setup and configuration of a broad range of network devices and interfaces
  • Typically 2+ years of experience at an electric utility, industrial plant, or engineering firm
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Typically 2+ years of experience in electric power SCADA or EMS practices
  • Experience contributing to product development teams
  • Working knowledge of the following: SEL products and protocols, Electric utility telecommunications, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-103, -101, -104, DNP3, Modbus, PRP, IEEE 1588, 3-phase and electric power systems, Electric utility protection practices, NERC-CIP compliance requirements, Industrial controls and PLCs

Pay Range Data:

Integration & Automation Engineer- $97,700 - $144,400

We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job and responsibility. We base our starting pay offer and title on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
